对龙纹剑格

帖木儿时期（约1370 –1507年）的一些玉器有龙头装饰的末端或手柄。不过这件玉器却借鉴了帖木儿金器的原型。这件十字护手采用了帖木儿人钟爱的深绿色，突出这只神兽风格化的凶猛。帖木儿人对玉的偏爱很可能源于他们相信玉能起到保护作用，他们对龙的看法也是如此。鉴于玉以硬度出名，雕刻起来尤为不易，因此能在这件玉器上刻出如此丰富的细节显明了高超的手工艺。由于剑刃已失传，我们无法得知这柄剑是否曾频繁用于沙场，但我们可以想见它是一柄曾被用过的剑，因为帖木儿时期最具标志性的活动就是不断发生的地区冲突。
