자크 루이 르블랑 부인

자크 루이 르블랑과 그의 아내(혼전 이름 프랑수아 퐁셀르, 1788–1839년)는 토스카나 공국의 여(女)대공 엘리자 바치오키 (나폴레옹 보나파르트의 여동생)의 궁전에 파견된 프랑스 공무원이었습니다. 1814–15년에 나폴레옹이 실각한 뒤, 르블랑 부부는 피렌체에 머물게 되었는데, 1820년 앵그르가 로마에서 피렌체로 오면서 두 사람을 만나게 됩니다. 이 만남을 계기로 그리게 된 부부의 개별 초상화는 왕실에 바친 것을 제외하면 앵그르의 작품 중 가장 큰 그림에 해당하는 것이며, 유일하게 쌍을 이루는 작품입니다. 1896년 에드가 드가가 구입하였는데, 그는 이 두 점의 초상화를 그의 소장품 가운데 가장 아름다운 작품으로 평가하였습니다.
