Box carved of solid wood with a horizontal slide lid incorporated in the front cover. The decoration consists mostly of chip-carved geometric patterns, as well as two entwined hearts on the back. The lid is carved with a tulip and heart motif in relief, while the spine includes three raised and decorated bands. The sides are left plain, except for two false clasps on the foredge.. -- description by Mindell Dubansky in consultation with Lynn Heckman.
