Livre Nouveau de Lambris, Plate 2
Plate 2 of a series of designs for paneling. This plate shows two doors and wall paneling on the wall between them. On the doors is a repeated design of a grotesque figure. Overdoors present landscapes in circular frames surrounded by a wreath. The wall panels show putti on war trophies. The bottom panel shows two putti on either side of an escutcheon, trumpeting. On the two other panels the putti are holding a portrait medallion above their heads. There are ionic pilasters rhythmizing the wall and a frieze with acanthus leaves at the top.
