Livre Nouveau de Lambris, Plate 1
Plate 1 of a series of designs for paneling. This plate shows a mantelpiece surmounted by a rectangular image of a group of putti. Over this scene is an oval medallion with a vegetal frame, and spandrels with rosettes. At the top of the walls are mouldings and consoles. On the walls are figurative panels making use of putti, terms, escutcheons, vases, creatures, vegetation and busts. In the circular panels are depicted scenes involving soldiers from Antiquity.
