Ticketing and Admission Policies
- Access to The Met’s current exhibitions and collection galleries is subject to the possession of a valid admission ticket.
- A valid admission ticket includes the date and location of the visit.
- A valid admission ticket can be purchased at a register or in advance online. An admission ticket purchased in advance shall become invalid upon the expiration of the time or period stated on the ticket.
- All ticket recipients must be present during purchase.
Admission tickets may also be obtained by presenting, redeeming, or exchanging one of the following:- An active membership card from The Met or a reciprocal membership card from a participating institution
- An employee ID from one of our active corporate sponsors or a valid corporate courtesy card
- A valid press ID
- A guest pass issued by The Met
- A group visit reservation
- Any document authorizing free or discounted admission as determined by The Met.
- Admission tickets are subject to inspection by Security or Visitor Experience personnel.
- Group admission tickets are subject to the terms of the group reservation.
- Membership benefits and other passes may not be used for group visits.
- Resales of any admission ticket without prior and express authorization from The Met are strictly prohibited.
- Admission tickets cannot be transferred, refunded or exchanged.
- A visitor may be refused entry or access to the Museum galleries if the Museum determines that the admission ticket has not been issued by The Met or a body or a legal entity authorized by the Museum for that purpose.
- The Met may restrict access to, or close, any of its property and cancel ticket reservations without advance notice, reason, cause, or explanation at any time.
- Select programs and events require the purchase of a ticket or a reservation in addition to, or instead of, an admission ticket.
- Access to current exhibitions and collection galleries during non-public hours is by invitation only and requires the previous authorization of The Met.
