글래큰스의 장면에서 얌전한 아이들이 몇 명의 어른들이 지켜보는 가운데 뉴욕의 센트럴파크에 있는 눈 덮인 언덕에서 썰매를 타고 내려옵니다. 어린이들은 따뜻하게 옷을 입었고 어른들은 맵시 있는 옷차림을 하고 있는 것을 보아 중산층 오락임을 알려줍니다. 글래큰스는 애시캔파이라고 알려지게 된 예술가 단체 중 한 명이었습니다. 현대적인 삶과 도시의 궁핍에 대한 소박한 진실을 말하는 명목상의 의무에도 불구하고 이 예술가들은 그들의 세계를 낙관적인 시각으로 보아 도시를 완곡하게 표현하였습니다.
