祭具一式

祭壇と13個の酒杯から成るこの手の込んだ儀式用の青銅祭具は、中国青銅時代の絶頂期の華麗さを示しています。存在感のあるフォルム、表面の精巧な装飾、そして熟達した鋳造技術が、研ぎ澄まされたセンスと高度な技術力を力強く物語っています。この一式は、陝西省にあった西周王朝時代の貴族の墓から20 世紀初頭に発掘されたものとされています。その後高名な古物収集家で政府高官だった端方のコレクションに収蔵され、遺族がメトロポリタン美術館に売却したものです。
