Marbled covered box
This box is displayed open to show glazed and unglazed areas, made with the decorative technique known as marbling. Celadon glaze provides the green hue, while the rim reveals the swirling clay body beneath. Unlike the other celadons in this exhibition, this example’s spiral design comes from the intentional blending of clays with different iron contents. The technique creates a charming green pattern when glazed and fired.
