Muchos vasos de cristal de origen franco tienen formas muy simples y mínimo color; en general la decoración se limita a líneas paralelas aplicadas al vidrio. Entre los diseños innovadores de esa época cabe destacar el vaso decorado con elementos prominentes parecidos a garras. Los pocos ejemplares que han llegado a nuestros días provienen de tumbas aristocráticas.
