Eighth plate of album with 60 19th-century costume plates and 1 drawing of mostly women's historical costumes, featuring a variety of designs for traditional costumes from different parts of the world, as well as costumes for literary characters, such as Esmeralda. This plate contains a woman wearing a Marmiton, or kitchen hand costume, made up of a white shirt with striped red-and-white borders and ruffled cuffs, under a white button-down vest with horizontal red-and-white stripes on the upper half, and a brown skirt with a white apron tied around the waist. A blue band hangs diagonally across her torso from one of her shoulders, and a thin belt with a pocket holding two knives hangs around her waist in a slight opposite diagonal. Her hair is decorated with a small, white hat, and a red ribbon is tied around her neck, holding an oval golden pendant. One of her hands holds a large silver spoon. She wears vertically-striped red-and-white stockings and black, low-heeled shoes with buckles.
