Group of church women and pastor

Photographer Alex Agbaglo Acolatse Togolese
1975
Not on view
Untrimmed black and white photograph (printed by Jerry L. Thompson in 1975, NY.) The subjects are arranged in three rows. The first two rows are women, seated with their hands clasped in their laps, with a single man standing at either end of the second row. Behind this group is a third row of standing men. The women all wear white dresses with frilled collars and sleeves; all but one also wear necklaces. The majority of the men wear white overcoats while one wears a black suit. With the façade of a brick building behind them and dirt visible in the foreground, the portrait was clearly taken outdoors and not in a studio.
