Family with two children, parents in Ewe kente cloth with painted backdrop
Untrimmed black and white photograph (printed by Jerry L. Thompson in 1975, NY.) The subjects are situated on a canvas-like rug and grouped around the seated father. He is flanked at right by a young son and at left by his wife and young daughter, all of whom are standing. The bottom edge of the painted backdrop is visible, confirming that this image comes from an indoor studio. The backdrop features a drawn-back curtain, a classical pedestal supporting a vase of flowers, and a highly-ornamental piece of furniture on the left-hand side. This is the same studio backdrop that is visible in 2015.499.24.1 and .2. The parents are wrapped in two different Ewe kente cloth patterns while the small children wear white clothing with an indiscernible pattern.
