Wilton album, folio 50a: The Virgin and Child with the Infant John the Baptist

1550–60
Not on view
On folio 50 with one other print: 27.78.1(174)
For more information on the Wilton album see entry for 27.78.1(1-428)
While an exact model for the composition has not been identified, the print is closely related to a painting by Michele Tosini, called Michele di Ridolfo, sold at Sotheby's New York on 1 June 1989 (lot. 19). Bohn however suggests the print and the painting may both derive from the same model, rather than being dependent upon each other.
There is some confusion regarding the states of this print, though this seems to be an impression of the second state
