Covered bowl

1902–4
Not on view
Riemerschmid was a leading member of the “functionalist” wing of the Munich Jugendstil movement. This punch bowl, one of his earliest designs, is an important example of abstract design in applied arts in Munich around the turn of the twentieth century, eight years before Kandinsky, also in Munich, moved from representational to abstract art.
