Divers Ornements D'Architecture, Recueillis et Dessegnes Apres L'Antique

1658
Not on view
In 1658, Françoise Bouzonnet etched this book of antique ornament designs under the supervision of her older sister and teacher, Claudine Bouzonnet Stella. Baroque painters kept architectural pattern books like this one in their workshops as references when composing their classical landscapes. In her dedication to the volume, Bouzonnet Stella assumes leadership of its publication and thanks a French royal arts administrator, Antoine Ratabon, for his support of her family’s artistic pursuits.
