The scene of children playing is taken from an engraving entitled "Le Batonet et la Charrue" by Claudine Bouzonnet Stella (1636–1697), after a design by Jacques Stella (1596–1657). The engraving was one of fifty-two devoted to the games and pastimes of childhood ("Jeux et plaisirs de l'enfance") published in Paris in 1657.
