Basoodeb and Narod Moonee

early 20th century
Not on view
Vasudev (Basudeb) and the ascetic sage Narada Muni (Narodmuni in Bengali), famed in Hinduism for his wisdom, gifted with the boon of knowledge. He preaches to Vasudeva that a moment of association with holy men is the most valuable thing in life, for it opens the path of enlightenment in spiritual life. Both figures hold a rosary (mala), have uncut hair, are bearded and wear white waistcloths. More typically Narada is represented holding a musical instrument. Inscribed in Bengali and English.
