Kristallnacht (November 9–10, 1938)

This print refers to Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), a wave of anti-Semitic violence carried out by the Nazi regime on November 9–10, 1938. The incident gets its name from the shattered glass that littered the streets after the vandalism. The print was published in the magazine Futuro in February 1939 with the warning: "Berlin, November 1938; Mexico tomorrow, if the government does not repress the criminal work of the press and fascist groups." It is one of a number of prints created in Mexico that decried the horrors of fascism across the world.
