The exuberant style of Jangarh, as he was commonly known, drew equally from the myths, rituals, customs, and symbols of his Pardhan community of Patangarh, India, as it did from the materials and techniques of painting and printmaking, interactions with other Indigenous and modern Indian artists, and awareness of Australian aboriginal art. Untitled (Stylized Trees) depicts two birds under a tree in a variety of dotted patterns that spread across numerous surfaces, animals and natural elements alike. The seamlessness of the patterns suggests their connection to each other and to their environment, in a distinctive aesthetic idiom that characterized Jangarh’s short career.
