Vase with flowering plant

Manufactory Rörstrand Factory Swedish
Decorator Decorated by Karl Lindström Swedish
ca. 1900–10
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 521
Embodying Art Nouveau’s fascination with natural forms, designer Karl Lindström elegantly integrates the figure of a budding flower bud into this vase, blurring the boundary between decoration and structure. In the typical style of the Rörstrand factory at this time, the porcelain is delicately modeled in stylized relief and gently painted with a subtle palette of greens and pinks.
