Returned to lender
This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.
The multimedia artist Jack Pierson is known for his often melancholic word sculptures made out of scavenged, mismatched letters once affixed to American storefronts and movie theater marquees. His works frequently express a feeling of nostalgia, as is evident in this chromatically muted color study of a wilting bouquet. Evoking a mix of desire and loneliness, the photograph is like the flowers themselves, which have been cut from fertile ground but have not yet lost their vitality.
