Bowl

Manufacturer Manufactured by Ceramic Art Company, Trenton, New Jersey American
ca. 1890–95
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774
Clara Newton, a childhood friend of Maria Longworth Nichols and a china painting instructor at the short-lived Rookwood School for Pottery Decoration, decorated this porcelain bowl. A domestic porcelain blank decorated with Royal Worcester style naturalistic raspberries enriched with raised gold paste, the bowl differs greatly from her Asian-inspired work for Rookwood.
