Tanomura Chokunyū, a disciple of the painter Tanomura Chikuden (1777–1835), emerged as a prominent advocate of literati painting and sencha practice. In this accordion album, Chokunyū presented a seasonal sequence of twelve landscapes—minimalist yet expressive and each showcasing a distinct type of brushstroke. A poem has been delicately inscribed with a fine-tip brush alongside each drawing.
