Engraving, part of 'Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus' (Costumes of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America), a series of prints representing figures from various parts of the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and published by Joos de Bosscher in 1580.

This engraving represents a merchant of Brabant in new dress, a woman from Antwerp in outer wear, a woman from Antwerp in travel dress, and a civilian of Brabant in antique military dress. On the left, the merchant wears a coat with long, puff sleeves with diagonal stripes over a doublet with a brocaded pattern of semi-abstract scrolling leaves and plain long puff sleeves, wide hose with sripes, stockings with ribbons below the knees, and flat shoes. He wears a ruff and beret.

Next to him is a woman from Antwerp in outerwear, made up of a long coat with long puff sleeves with stripes and trimmed with ribbons, over a long dress with open ruff, and made in a brocaded fabric with a semi-abstract pattern of scrolling leaves. She wears a wide, round hat and carries a cloak on her left arm. On her right arm she carries a basket.

At her other side is another woman, represented from behind, wearing the same type of wide, round hat over a cloak, which covers most of the dress except for the lower part of the overcoat, made of a velvety fabric. It is likely that this illustration represents a view of the woman on the left wearing the cloak she carries on her hand.

On the right is a citizen of Brabant, wearing what is labelled as 'antique' military dress in the isncription, consisting of a hooded cloak, likely over a doublet and wide hose, stockings, and flat shoes with rounded toes. He wears a flat hat with short brim and braided band, and a ruff. He holds his gloves in his left hand.
