Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This page consists of a textile (?) design with paisley leaves and scrolling branches with flowers and leaves. The design is made up of a large, scrolling paisley shape, colored with black and with a thin, undulating branch with stylized exotic flowers and semi-abstract leaves, colored with white, framed by thin, scrolling branches with small, semi-abstract leaves and palmettes, and a bundle of thin, scrolling branches with semi-abstract flowers and leaves, with three scrolling paisley leaves, colored with black and with thin, undulating branches with stylized-exotic flowers and leaves, colored with white. Other design motifs featuring the same types of stylized exotic flowers, palmettes, and leaves, and thin, undulating branches with semi-abstract flowers and leaves fill the rest of the page. The design is executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper. The motifs in the design seem to have been inspired on Indian calicoes and were most likely intended for printed textiles or wallpapers, and were possibly manufactured with vivid colors.
