Ornamental designs for Point d'Alençon lace with thin garlands of stylized flowers and leaves
Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This page consists of Ornamental designs for Point d'Alençon lace with thin garlands of stylized flowers and leaves. On the upper part of the frame are two garlands with stylized flowers and leaves, separated by a thin, undulating vertical branch with small, stylized flowers and leaves, and round flower buds, possibly meant as designs for borders. Under them is a thin werath with flowers and leaves, tied by a thin ribbon bow, with two thin bundles with flowers and leaves to the sides. Under them is a horizontal, undulating garland with stylized, somewhat exotic, flowers, flower buds, and leaves. On the lower part of the sheet are designs for corners, made up of undulating branches with stylized flowers and leaves; the design on the left also contains scrolling leaves and festoons decorated with pearls. In the center is a bundle with undulating branches with stylized flowers and scrolling leaves. The designs are executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper.
