Sir Joshua Reynolds
This print is based on a self-portrait by Joshua Reynolds painted ca. 1788 and the subject is shown at half-length, wearing spectacles and extending one arm. The print may have been published in 1789 to accompany bound copies of Reynolds's "Discourse" delivered on December 10, 1788. It reissued as a frontispiece for a 1797 edition of Reynolds's "Works."
