A Battle Between Cavalrymen and Infantry

Follower of Dirk Langendijk Dutch
early 19th century
Not on view
The success of Dirk Langendijk’s military scenes inspired a number of contemporary followers and copyists. The maker of the present drawing has produced a composition immediately reminiscent of Langendijk’s work, but the handling of pen and brush, particularly in the rendering of the figures and horses, differs substantially.
