This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.Here, a peaceful hilly landscape is juxtaposed with an ominous crowd in the foreground. Reports of the banquet at Versailles had further aggravated the discontented Parisian populace. This culminated in the march to the palace of angry market women (and men) in search of the king.
