Lunar Fragments (Tsuki no kakera)
Ogawa studied ceramics at the National University of Fine Arts and Music, Tokyo, and the Ecole des Métiers d’Art, Paris, after which she spent more than three years in West Africa learning basic ceramic techniques. Using the technical knowledge she mastered and her understanding of Africa’s geological forms, Ogawa developed a unique style, creating objects that appear to have emerged from the earth but are, in fact, thoughtfully crafted to reveal the clay’s inner strength.
