Fountains, Plate 5
Plate 5 of a series of designs of fountains. This design shows a putto holding a turtle, from which water falls, above his head. The putto is sitting on a large shell on top of a small palm tree. Three dolphins spout water. The one of the left side spouts it into a basin. Next to it is a almost nude woman with her hand on its head. The center dolphin spouts water into a large vase decorated with a geometric frieze and a figurative scene. The last dolphin also spouts water into the basin. It also serves as a support for the leaning woman on the right side of the plinth.
