For this combination of photogravure and etching, Hamilton began with a picture he found in 1969 in the wastebasket at the photo studio Creative Colour in Hamburg, Germany, where he had gone to produce color separations for screen prints (someone had apparently sent the unsolicited image in the hopes of securing a modeling contract). Hamilton then added features from his apartment: the curious three-sided chair and the nineteenth-century side table on which the telephone rests. He also included Robert Indiana’s print ART (1970–71), which Hamilton claims to have found hanging in many of the German apartments he visited in the early 1970s. The title comes from a 1966 song by The Kinks.
