Bench

15th century
On view at The Met Cloisters in Gallery 19
Like the bench depicted on the central panel of Campin's Annunciation Triptych, in this room, this bench is decorated with finials in the form of lions and dogs. The hinged seat could be lifted so that the cavity underneath could serve as a storage space.
