Page from a Sketchbook Depicting a City under Siege and a Scene of Homage(?) (recto); standing figures and a horseman; male and female figures; a battle scene (verso)
This sheet belonged to a sketchbook (dismembered in 1965) of forty-three leaves with drawings in varying media depicting landscapes, figural studies, and portraits relating to scenes from Roman history. The drawings have been associated with the Sienese artist Beccafumi and some appear to be copies of his paintings and drawings. The delineation of the scenes into bands suggests that they relate to a fresco cycle.
