Album of Ornament Prints from the Fund of Martin Engelbrecht

This is an 18th-century containing 27 series with a total of 122 ornament prints from the fund of the prominent Augsburg publisher Martin Engelbrecht. The binding describes the content as cartouches (after the first series in the album) but the subjects of the prints are more varied, ranging from rocaille ornament and cartouches to vases, candelabra and designs for altars and pulpits. This appears to have been a 'curated' album, composed of various series from Engelbrecht's stock, bound together based on similar subject matter and style rather than the sequence of their serial numbers.
