Sketch Class
Soyer and his friends convened at one another’s homes to sketch from hired models. Rather than concentrating his composition on the model in this work, Soyer chose to feature other artists sketching across the room. The print was made for and printed by the Federal Art Project, a Depression-era program established to support the visual arts as part of the Works Progress Administration.
