Not on view
Was used as a Christmas greeting - the subject refers to an overladen postman at Christmas time. The title refers to the quotation by Herodotus which is inscribed on the 8th Avenue facade of the General Post Office in New York City: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds", see: Morse 1969, p. 337.
