In addition to publishing and distributing the prints of Société des Aquafortistes (Society of Etchers) members, Cadart issued treatises on the medium. This example by Adolphe Martial Potémont, known as Martial, includes etched illustrations of the tools required; the page displayed here shows etching needles, a bottle of mordant, and a feather used to chase away bubbles that might form while submerging the plate in the acid. On the facing page, he declares the triumph of etching complete.
