Side Chair
Numerous nineteenth-century furniture makers took design patents on folding chairs, which had become very popular in the United States. With its spare form and relatively plain upholstery, this chair is simpler than most other folding chairs. This chair is known to have been produced in large quantities for general use and was shown in the Chess Room of the Century Club in an illustration in "Harper's Weekly" for November 24 1883.
