Half title, illustrated title page, dedication, contents, preface, pp. 2–188 of text with figural illustrations designed by Abbey and floral head and tail-pieces by Parsons. Bound in stamped beige cloth boards designed by Abbey, the front cover in green and gold and Herrick's original title in red and black, "Selections from the Collected Hesperides & Noble Numbers of Robert Herrick"; small illustration on back cover. This is the London edition; the book was simultaneously published in New York by Harper & Brothers, 1882.
MMA has 23 original wood blocks used to print Abbey's illustrations (46.49.58–81) and one of Abbey's drawings for "A Bucolick or Discourse of Neatherds" (29.100.928), reproduced p. 7.
