This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.
In 1825 the holdings of the Danish Royal Kunstkammer were transferred to a series of public museums, including the National Museum in Copenhagen. Among them were nine Kongo cushion covers featuring embellishment that embraces variations on the classic over-and-under interlace design.
