This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.In this early self-portrait, Marville surveys the street from a window of his studio in the heart of Paris. It is tempting to imagine that the oversized folded sheet in his hand is a map of the city, in light of his future endeavors as photographer in the service of urban planners.
