Hank Williams

Daniel Faust American
1989, printed 2013
Not on view
Museum displays have been Faust’s principal subject for more than thirty years. His destinations are varied—from the British Museum to Nashville’s Music Valley Wax Museum of the Stars, where he photographed this wax figure of country music star Hank Williams. With a shoot-from-the-hip style that approaches the casual glances of museum visitors looking for “edutainment,” a dry sense of humor, and a careful color sense, Faust explores history, material culture, popular entertainment, and kitsch, fascinated by the ways we present and consume that which we value.
