Curio Cabinet
The design for this cabinet was copied almost exactly from a piece by the well-known French designer Louis Majorelle of Nancy, who made Art Nouveau furniture between about 1897 and 1910 and exhibited examples at a number of the turn-of-the-century international expositions. Elegantly hand-finished, this cabinet differs strikingly from most American Art Nouveau furniture, which was at least partly machine-made. George C. Flint and Company was located on 23rd Street from 1909 until 1913, about the time this cabinet was made.
