Helmet

late 15th–16th century
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 379
The Arabic inscriptions include the phrases "Glory to our Lord, the greatest Sultan, the noble, the mighty Khagan, master of the necks (of nations)." The foliate Kufic script is similar to that found on early sixteenth-century Turkish Iznik pottery.
