Covered Sugar Bowl

1830–33
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774
This covered sugar bowl is attributed to the Providence Flint Glass Works because of its strong similarity to marked salts made by that factory. The coloration of the piece in this collection is unusual. The bowl is pressed with alternating acanthus leaf and eagle-headed shield patterns, while the lid has six acanthus motifs.
