Wine cooler (one of a pair)
These wine coolers (see also 2004.520a, b) were produced in China for export to Europe. While the decoration is Chinese in origin, the form is western and is probably based on a silver example. The mounts by the Augsburg silversmith Elias Adam enhance the luxurious nature of the coolers and reflect the continuing appreciation for Chinese porcelain in the eighteenth century.
