The Venetian island of Murano supported a flourishing glass industry, producing spectacular pieces innovative in their technique and decoration. The subtle play of enamel and delicate gilding on the rich cobalt-blue glass of this vessel exemplifies the refined style for which Murano glassmakers were renowned.
