Side Chair
This chair and its mate are attributed to Leon Marcotte on the basis of their style and the mother-of-pearl marquetry set into veneer panels. In shape and design, particularly in the stiles and ribbon cresting, the chair follows late-eighteenth-century precedents. The brass beading, the carved fan, the small turned spindles, and the metal rings on the upper legs are nineteenth-century innovations.
